Gloucestershire Cross Country League & County Championships

Cross-country is traditionally the backbone of winter training. Gloucestershire has an annual championship for individuals and teams. It consists of a series of four races - one of which will include the county championship to determine the individual and team rankings.

All abilities are welcome and an individual needs to compete in three of the four league races to obtain a county rank for the season.

A club needs to register a team finish (three runners for ladies; six runners for men) in each of the four races to obtain a county rank for the season. It is not essential to attend each race, as just one finish will really help Almost Athletes register a team finish!

Races take place over a lapped course and are typically 6km for women and 9km for men. Entry price and details available via Glos AAA website - see link below.

Terrain is grass, and a pair of trail shoes will usually be suitable, although a pair of spikes will be an advantage if the ground is particularly wet. Glos AAA rules stipulate that club vests MUST be worn by all affiliated runners.

An increasing number of Almosts have participated in the series over recent seasons, and we would encourage you to take part as it can really help with your running performance, plus it is great fun – honest!!

The club team ratings are based on the best performances of each club for each event, whilst the individual ratings are based on the best three race performances.
