A good number of you have expressed an interest in this, and Kev Fairs
has kindly volunteered to do the all spreadsheet-keeping, so we're good to go!
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You run a 3k - anywhere, anytime (subject to the cut-off date, see below) but as the ascent and descent must be more or less the same a loop, rather than a run from A to B, is recommended.
You record your time and, as with the virtual 5k relay challenge, the time you use is the one that comes up when you use the 'Race' category on Strava (so it's total time elapsed and we avoid any Ross Barkley situations!)
You use the age grade calculator here: https://runbundle.com/tools/age-grading-calculator We trust you not to add any years to your age
When you have your time and age grade (it'll be a percentage to two decimal places) please either
Title the run on Strava Almost Age Defying and include your age grade in the title - if you are part of the Almost Athletes club on Strava we can pick it up from there
If you are not on Strava please put a photo of your time on here, ie the Facebook club page, and mention your age grade in the comments with your post.
Or, if you prefer, you can message Kev Fairs
with the details.
The deadline for getting your time and age grade in is 10pm on 21st June.
This is just for fun, please remember that social distancing rules apply at all times and that you should take care if you have to run on the road to maintain 2m distance.
The last cross country race of the season saw wintry weather for competitors. In addition to a strong turnout for the men, Becky Stephens was the sole lady representative from the club and ran well in spite of the challenging conditions finishing in 57th place.
After a chilly but bright start on the athletics track of Tilsley Park, the Abingdon marathon got underway with close to 800 competitors. A good representation of Almost Athletes were in attendance, including 6 members of the same running family putting sibling rivalry to the test.
