10ks galore!


Almost Athletes tackled a variety of 10Ks and were rewarded with several PBs. The flat and fast Castle Combe Chilly 10K saw Josh Rimell take 5 minutes off his PB to finish in 46:58. Rob Rennell ran his fastest ever 10K in 1:08 (guided by Robert Dalton-Morris). Ed Brandley finished in 52:17, Dave Mayo 53:02, Russell Jones 53:25, and Iris Mayo 1:06.

Shaun Carr led for the club at the muddy Croome Capability Canter, finishing in 48:29. Martin Thomas was close behind in 48:44. Jane Russell and Sue Monaghan both finished in 1:09, Kim Davenport 1:13, Sarah Carr 1:14, and Coralie Pearson 1:19.

Five travelled to Cheshire to take on the Wilmslow Festive 10k. Laura Tring was first Almost home in a PB of 44:23, followed by Neil Tring 44:27, Hannah Brown 54:21 (PB), Lorraine Taylor 57:02 and Malc Smith 1:03.

Richard Bennett, Hester Coggin and Julie Averiss were in action at the Howling Bull 10k, Walford. They finished in 57:13, 1:00 and 1:30 respectively.

Closer to home, Duncan Mounsor was first of the club’s finishers at Gloucester 10k. He ran 42:31, his fastest time in a decade. Peter Blakeman was 1st MV60 in 45:11. Hannah Richards was next (45:08), Also running were David Chittock (49:04), Lepha McCartan (49:17), Andrew Altham (50:07), Jamie Courtenay (52:46), Deb Cartlidge (1:00), Wan Hartley (1:02), Adrian Courtenay (1:03) and Steve Yarnold (1:17).

Karla Cleverley took on the Weston Trail 10K, finishing in 1:24. Iris and Dave Mayo tackled the Severn Bridge Night Run, finishing in 55:56 and 55:57 respectively. Lesley Cottle ran Bicton Blister 10 miler in 1:43.

There were marathons for Allan Green at Greenham Common (5:10), and Jules Jameson at Broadmeadow. Ingrid Harris also ran Broadmeadow and finished 1st lady in 4:47.

At Cheltenham parkrun, Martin Foster was first home for the club in 19:20, Jeanette Gullick was 5th lady in 22:26, and Ross Greening ran his 100th event. Hamish Adamson was 7th at King George V Playing Fields (22:03), Catherine Daly was 1st lady (24:20), and Jeff Tibbles ran his 50th. At Gloucester City, Ben Stone was 3rd (19:40) and Patricia Dendy finished 2nd lady (22:30).

There was tourism aplenty. At Heaton, Lou Tring marked her 50th parkrun with a course PB of 30:13. She was joined by Laura Tring (also a course PB 22:12), Neil Tring and Lorraine Taylor. Malc Allen ran at Black Park, Malc Smith at Hyde, and Adam Smith at Newark. Rosemary Hubbard ran at Weymouth, Danny Carroll at Hereford, and Martyn Fisher at Pocket. Matthew Bevan was in Warwick, Mike Bryce ran at Mallards Pike, while Hannah Richards and Andrea Hardy were at Seven Fields.

Further afield, Greg Hollingworth and James Clay were in Amager, Denmark. Ben Taylor was 1st at Central, Burnaby in Canada (19:34), and Steven Adams ran in Noosa, Australia.
