Runners of the Month, 2013
Every 4-6 weeks or so the committee nominate one or two Runners of the Month – these are people who we feel have worked hard and improved in some way, whether that is by running their first 5K, coming back from injury or completing a longer event in an exceptional time.
Helen Fursman - Runner of the Month, October 2013
Congratulations to Helen on completing the off road Clarendon marathon in 4.05. Helen has been working hard and training on hills and trails which has really paid off.Well done Helen!
Dave Chittock - Runner of the Month, October 2013
Dave has been training hard in recent months (and losing weight!) and has improved his race times considerably – including a 1.40 half marathon. Well done Dave and keep up the good work!
Nick Lewis - Runner of the Month, September 2013
Nick modestly gets on with his ultra running and recently came 1st overall at the Buff Joust 24 Hour Ultra (100 miles). He gives a lot back to the club – organising the handicap race series and also the JW Ultra Relay teams. Thanks Nick!
Steve Adams - Runner of the Month, September 2013
Steve has been running well recently and has also spent time helping our new Beginners’ Group members to progress with their running and complete their first Parkrun 5K.
Miranda - Runner of the Month, August 2013
Congratulations to Miranda who is constantly improving at all distances – from 1 mile to half marathon. Miranda loves her running and is always cheerful and chatty.
Thom Stephens - Runner of the Month, August 2013
Thom has been working hard and steadily improving over the last couple of years, getting great marathon times for someone so young. By his own admission, Thom hates running on the road and absolutely loves hills and mud!
Des Beer - Runner of the Month, June 2013
Congratulations to Des on her 3.53 at the Edinburgh Marathon where she raised over £800 for Myeloma UK. Des has been working hard and significantly improving her times recently. Great running Des!
Eddie Munro - Runner of the Month, June 2013
A big well done to Eddie for his improvement over a range of distances recently and for winning his new category – vet 60 – on many occasions!
Michelle Caroll - Runner of the Month, May 2013
Congratulations to Michelle on a great injury come-back with a 3 hours 23 minutes time at the Brighton marathon, securing her the position of 30th lady overall in the race.
Mark Lyes - Runner of the Month, May 2013
Mark had a great run at Brighton this year, knocking over 40 minutes off his previous time at this seaside marathon. Plus Mark has consistently attained personal best times over a range of distances recently.
Chris Walker - Runner of the Month, May 2013
Congratulations to Chris on successfully completing her first marathon in London after months of hard training. Chris has moved up from her first 10K less than 2 years ago to half marathons and then the full 26.2.
Mary Welsh - Runner of the Month, March 2013
Congratulations to Mary for getting a gold medal in her age group at the Dambuster Duathlon and the BTF National Championship trophy for the third consecutive year. Mary is truly an inspiration!
Cat Owers - Runner of the Month, March 2013
Catherine Owers is a chiropractor and a long-standing member of the club who leads the walking group on a Wednesday night. Cat is always welcoming and cheerful and willing to give advice to injured runners. Thanks Cat!
Norm Lever - Runner of the Month, February 2013
Congratulations to Norm who has worked hard over the last year or so to earn himself some great personal bests. His new-found speed also helped him to win the 2012 club handicap race.
Debbie Masding - Runner of the Month, February 2013
Debbie excelled herself at the Goofy Challenge at Disney World in Florida in January by running a half marathon (2 hours 30 mins) and a full marathon (4 hours 45 mins) on consecutive days, raising money for the LINC charity in the process. Well done Debbie!
