Where we Meet

We meet for social running or training every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.  In addition there is a social run many Thursday mornings.   The details are below, and further details can be obtained from the club by emailing almostathletes@hotmail.com:

Mondays

*** There is no Track session on Monday 28 August due to the public holiday ***

Our Monday evening sessions are at the Prince of Wales Track.  Please arrive at about 6:50pm for a 7pm start.

Please bring £3, which the club uses to pay the Leisure Centre for use of the track.  Additionally, please bring water as it’s likely to be a warm session (whatever the weather).

These sessions are the only regular event with a charge not covered by annual membership; the actual training is provided for free by volunteer coaches – usually James Clay on Monday evenings.

Beginners and slower runners are particularly welcome!

Tuesdays

Our Tuesday evening sessions are focused on hill reps.  Please arrive by 6.45pm.

The current venue is Cheltenham Racecourse, with details on where to park below.

The coach is usually Michael Grant.

These sessions are great for runners of all paces so give it a go if you haven’t already done so!

Please bring water to these sessions as they are likely to be warm (whatever the weather).

Where to park for Tuesday evening sessions:

Please enter the racecourse through the MAIN gate and follow signs to NORTH CAR PARK. Then please park in the car park that is 100m or so down from the Steam Railway station, in the lower car park. You will pass a security gate that might be staffed, in which case do mention our running club and all will be well.

Wednesdays

This is our main weekly event and usually the one that is best attended.

The venue changes every 6 weeks or so, and this week (23 August) we move to The Gardeners Arms in Alderton.  Please arrive at about 6:50pm for a 7pm start.

There will be a variety of paces over a 5 mile off road route. Drinks in the pub afterwards.

Thursday mornings

These social sessions are based on individuals, or small self-organised groups, running to (or otherwise just turning up at) an agreed meeting point, perhaps for coffee and cake.

The location for 31 August is The Boathouse in Pittville Park.  Aim to arrive at 10.15am.

Thursday evenings

Thursday evening is our speed endurance session.   Please arrive about 6:50 for a 7pm start.

Training takes place at multiple venues throughout the year at 7pm, and we currently meet at Pittville Park on the grass by the Albemarle Gate car park.

The coaches are usually Fi and Matt Barnes.

On the first Thursday of each month there are 2 sessions to choose from, either Prince of Wales track starting at 5pm for a £3 track hire charge, or the usual 7pm session as described above.
